Splitting a movie isn't too difficult, but it can be problematic if its subtitle comes as a separate file and you absolutely need to include a subtitle in your trimmed video. Fortunately, you can get around this problem with special utilities, like SubzBor. This lightweight utility gives you the possibility of splitting subtitle files with pin-point precision. On the surface, it doesn't look like much, but the application supports a wide range of encoding methods and it lets you make various fine tweaks.

SubzBor is absolutely free and you can have it up and running in under a minute. It is compatible with all popular Windows versions and it doesn't require any special tools or services. Furthermore, the software's components come in a ZIP archive, so you don't have to go through an installation process.

To cut a subtitle file, you simply have to specify the start and end positions in its timeline, in hours, minute, seconds and fractions of a second. Additionally, you can set a delay or speed the subtitle segment, if you don't like how it's synchronized to the audio. The software lets you perform this step multiple times, so you can extract as many subtitle segments as you need. When you are done selecting your segments, you only need to click a button and the application will start splitting the subtitle right away.

If you have other subtitle editing software, you can copy and paste time codes from that software to SubzBor. This is why the application will ask you to specify a time code format, so that it will match with the format of the third party editor. The operation is simple and it only involves selecting the used symbols in the time coding and specifying a number of decimals.

Splitting subtitles can be done quickly, effortlessly and with pin-point accuracy when using SubzBor.

Pros

You can extract one or more segments from a subtitle file. The software lets you add delays or speed up your subtitles. You can also specify the time code formatting, if you wish to copy and paste time codes.

Cons

There are no obvious issues to address.
